Friday Fail: Don't Microwave Whip Cream

I hesitate to even share this because it really shows I'm not always with it up there. Publix had strawberries, Sara Lee Pound cake and Cool Whip on sale (a few weeks ago). I was so excited to make easy strawberry shortcakes, especially since I only paid $1 for all items. Thinking too highly of my couponing skills left me mircrowaving mindlessly. And apparently, 30 seconds is too much for a tub of Cool Whip. I only wanted it thawed out so I could scoop it easily. Instead it looked like this:

No, it's not marshmallow cream. Still tasted great even with a side of bruised ego! Keep it real at Friday Fails.

Friday Fail: Dish Soap Dumped in My Bag!

Friday, I was so glad to get my FREE Dawn Renewal dish soap. There was a $1 Q in a booklet I got in the mail. I’ve heard reports that CVS had these on sale for $0.97 so I made sure to pick it up. Because I only bought 3 items, I didn’t ask for a bag. Instead I put everything in my newly assembled and organized coupon bag. I slept soundly knowing that I snagged another great deal. The sweet smell of success, literally, I was smelling a sweet scent in the air.

This morning, I was cleaning up and looking forward to some blogging. So I got my coupon bag. Volia! Mystery solved. The sweet smell was that bottle of dish soap upside down in my bag with the top OFF! Only a smidget of soap was left. Everything dripped into the front of my bag and on the floor. Thank goodness I put it in the front flap and not inside with my coupon inserts and binder.

I took all the stuff out of it, and rinsed it in the tub. Then, I just filled up the tub with the suds from my bag and let the kids enjoy this major FAIL. They had a blast with all the bubbles. It was such a bad idea to put that dish soap in my bag, especially since it has no seal or anything. Good thing it was free! Only my pride was hurt, not my wallet.

Friday Fail: Printer Toner Low

Talking about fails makes it easier to take life less seriously, doesn't it?

Low printer ink... those words are the worst for a couponer. Ranks up there with "Reached your print limit." It seemed like I was always having to go out and get more ink. So we bought this really nice (and cheap) HP Laser P1006 and have only replaced the toner once. Then those fateful words came: printer toner low. It's so premature to buy another toner!

I took out the toner and looked at it. Black stuff got all over my fingers, shirt, papers. After I cleaned off everything, I put it back inside. Next time I printed something, it looked great!

Now, when the printed page looks faded, I take it out, give it a little shake. Voila! It's good again. Easy fix has bought me at least 30 more pages of printing.

See how badly I want to get Blue Bell Ice Cream? Using this $1 coupon makes it only $2.88! (Price-Match Food World's ad at Target- if they have Blue Bell, or Wal-Mart for $3.88 then use the coupon for some inexpensive bliss!)

Friday Fail: Accidental Tie-Dye Towels

How do you know when you have done one too many loads of laundry? When you get pink towels from washing them with bright red napkins. Good thing this happened yesterday. At least Valentine's Day makes it look intentional... not really. When I threw them in the wash all together, that still small voice inside me said to rethink my actions. But I thought they're just old dish towels, I don't really care. Guess what, I do care. Apparently, pink is NOT my favorite color. The good part is that I can go ahead and give in and buy some new ones at Wal-Mart. Anybody know of a better deal or better place for dishtowels? I might just bite the bullet and go coupon-less!
Now that I got that off my chest, see all the other goof-ups at Friday Fails. These are bound to remind you that, hey, we're all just real people here. It's not that serious!

Friday Fail: Register Checkout Mishaps

I have to go ahead and post this again, as a reminder to everyone (mostly myself!) LOL! It's so important to make sure you read your store receipt and check your bags before leaving the store. Just this week alone, (1) I forgot a bag of 4 razors at Target, (2) was overcharged $4 at Winn-Dixie, (3) didn't get a $5 Target Gift Card. Major Fail! Thanks to a friend who picked up the razors for me, I saved one trip to Target. I have to make another trip to fix the other mistakes.

On a funny note, the cashier I had last night at Target was new. I bought two Venus Embrace razors to get a $5 Gift Card. When the Gift Card prompt on the register computer came up, he got a bit confused. "You need to give me a gift card", he said. I explained, "No you need to give me the gift card." Then I had to tell him where to find it! I successfully kept my laughter inside my head.

One of my coupons also wouldn't work even with two supervisors helping (I was supposed to get another free bodywash.) I was already tired from the skating party and was ready to go home that I forgot to get the gift card from him. (They normally hand it to you right away.) After combing through my bag 5 times with no luck, I finally called Target. They had their Loss Prevention person watch the video to see what exactly happened. I now have some Target coupons (instead of the gift card) waiting for me at the store.
