Barnes Deals, Sept 9-15

I love Barnes Supermarket! They have great deals on meats and produce. But I've never shopped there before. I just use their ad and price-match the best deals at Wal-Mart. Price-matching at Wal-Mart saves me time and money. To learn more, read this post I wrote.

Rebates I'm Submitting

I've talked a lot about rebates in the current posts. It's really a matter of discipline to get these processed and out the door. So, if you are not very disciplined and shy away from rebates because you're scared to forget to mail them, don't give up! If I can do it, you can too. And as you've seen, sometimes, I lose receipts and have to redo the rebate. That's ok. It's important to just keep at it anyway.

So far, here are the different things I am sending off for rebates:

If you do the above Fuel For School Rebate and bought cereal with other mail-in promotions on them, look at the info carefully. You might be able to do both. For example, some Kellogg's Special K say "FREE Workout DVD". The form is in box and you collect 5 stamps found on the outside of the box. Cut these out and send for the DVD and then cut the UPCs for the School Rebate. That's what I'm doing.

Kelloggs, FREE Movies on specially marked cereal. Collect 5 stamps on boxes. Up to 5 DVDs per address. I'm sending in for "A Walk In the Clouds"

*Also, if you decide to buy 10 Pop Tarts for your School Rebate, look for the boxes that say FREE Star Trek Movie. Send in the 10 UPCs to get $10 for the Rebate. Nabisco-Kraft Rebate, Buy 20 items, Get $20 back. If you sign up for this Coupon booklet, you'll find the Rebate form on page 1.
Buy 5 Easy Mac Easy Cups, 5 Drinks (like Capri Sun), 10 Nabisco Cookies (like the Fig Newtons). Special note, cut out all of the UPC codes before someone eats a box of cookies and throws out the box by accident! Hence the Graham Crackers. I spent about $20, so it will all be FREE after the rebate!



Penzoil Motor Oil, Get up to $15 back for 5 quarts.
I bought 5 for $11 at Target. (Price-matched with KMart's from last week.) I used $4 from the Target Gift Card and will get $5 back from the rebate. So, final cost for 5 is $2! Thanks A Thrifty Mama!

CVS Trip- FREE Renu & Zyrtec, Plus $2 Profit!

I didn't realize until late today that Zyrtec and Renu are on sale this past week at CVS. After digging through CVS coupons, I saw that the $25 ReadyFill booklet has coupons for both allergy and eye care products. At the store, I always scan my card at the price scanner to get CVS coupons. To my joy, it gave me $2 off Renu! I had another from last Sunday. So I stacked these store Qs with the $2 print coupons.

My husband and I were amazed at these transactions. I never would have thought Zyrtec could be bought for free!

First Transaction:
Bought 2 Renu 12 oz (Pay $7.99, Get $3 ECBs
-$3 off $12 or more eye care from ReadyFill
-two $2 CVS coupons for Renu (from price scanner & last Sunday's receipt)

And to think that for years we've used Wal-Mart's Equate brand because it was only $3. This is the first time we bought a name brand contact lens solution. I will definitely keep an eye out for these deals again. Another reason to coupon!

More Target Savings

Another trip at Target.

I finally tried Price-Matching at Target. And it worked! Since Target has deals like FREE Milk or $5 Gift Cards when you purchase certain items, you can really lower your out-of-pocket costs by price-matching. I bought Nutrigrain for $2, Dollar General's price, instead of the Target price $2.39 and paid $6 for 4 boxes of Nutrigrain and 2 gallons milk. I used $0.50 off Kellogg's Snacks *target Q) since it is expiring today. The only thing they asked me was if I had the full copy of the ad. Yay!

And since KMart has Penzoil for 5 quarts for $11 through today(and Target's is $3.47 each) I'll also price-match there. That way I can use the Target gift cards I got yesterday to pay for them. There is also a Rebate form available... I'll have to get it to you later!
UPDATE: I did get the Penzoil: $4 went to the gift card and I paid $7 OOP. So when I get the $5 Rebate back, it is only $2 for 5 quarts of oil!

I bought these for the Nabisco Rebate. I was so glad they had this particular Capri Sun. This is my kid's on-the-go drink. Not the healthiest but at least this kind is 100% juice and only $1.97 each.

I didn't know this but if your kids are buckled in their seatbelts when you check-out, the cashier will give them this dog sticker and it's good for FREE Popcorn! This was a well-deserved treat for my kiddos who were super behaved at the store today. I usually don't take them with me but now that they know there may be popcorn at the end of the trip, they may keep trying to behave at Target.

I got the Tide and Bounce for $0.79 each. Marketing departments try very hard to get consumers to purchase their new products so we may see more deals on these for a while. I remember when All came out with Small and Mighty. I was able to snag a few of those for almost free. See, buying brand name can sometimes save you even more money! I used my Target Gift Cards to pay for these and Glade candles. I had two $3 printables for those so they were only $2.98.

I have only started shopping at Walgreens again very recently. So my Register Rewards are just accumulating. Luckily for us, we have Publix stores in our area. And if I don't have much to spend RRs on at Walgreens, I can head over Publix and spend RRs there. The worst thing to do is to let RRs expire so make sure you spend them!

The trick at this store is that you cannot roll over most RRs. This means that if I buy M&Ms and got $1RR, I can use this to pay for my next M&Ms but I will not get another $1RR after the second transaction. So this means that IF it's supposed to be FREE after RRs, but then you do the same deal and do NOT get the same RRs to print out then the 2nd time around is NOT free. It's easier than I explained and it's OK to tell them you want to void a transaction if there if you make a mistake.



So, if I had only $5 to spend at Walgreens but I need to buy more than that, I would do multiple transactions like this:

First Transaction:
Buy 2 Crest w/ Scope, 2/$7
Use two $1 off Q
OOP: $5, Get $5 RR back

Second Transaction:
Glade Scented Oil Candle Holder, 2/$4
Use two $2 off Q found in the box*
Final Price: FREE plus $1RR

Third Transaction:
Buy two Starbucks Frappucino, $5 each
Use two $2 off Q from Starbucks coupon booklet

Use $1 RR from Second Transaction

*Your number of coupons must not exceed the number of items. When this happens, use a filler item that is super cheap, like this $0.25 folder.

Total Cost OOP: $5.50, Got $2 RR for next time
Cost of items without any coupons or RRs: $21.50

CVS Deals for Sept 6-12

Go over to I Heart CVS to view the weekly ad before Sunday. That's where I also go to see the coupon match-ups. She adds CVS coupons found in the Reinventing Beauty Magazine ($1 at CVS) and also tells you what CVS coupons to expect to print from the price scanner or your receipt. Plus, if you go there early during the week, like Weds and find some deals you really like but you don't have the coupons for it, you'll have plenty of time to buy them on ebay or clipping services like Coupons and Things By Dede. This way, you'll receive your coupons before the new sales week start on Sunday.

When I first started this CVS "Game" I didn't have too many Extra Care Bucks (ECBs). So I did multiple transactions so I can rollover the ECBs to get everything I needed. In a way, that's still what I do today except, I spend and rollover enough for one transaction until the next week. (I ususally have about $20 ECBs to use weekly.)


But if I only had $5 to spend, I would do these 3 transactions:

When it is a holiday weekend, like Labor Day, there are no coupon inserts in the newspaper. The following Sunday, Sept 13, look for 3 inserts: 2 Redplum and 1 Smart Source booklets. But in the meantime, you can still print or request coupons by mail:

I always sign-up for these coupons because the links go straight to the website of the company. I've received booklets in the mail but they often take a while to arrive. So be patient. Also, I have a "junk" email address that I use when the ask me for my email. That way, you don't end up with a lot of newsletters in your main account.
