California Dreamin'

Welcome Company Girls! While it's evening here now, I still put on a pot of coffee. The gentle pitter-patter of rain outside just calls for it!

Today I did laundry and got reacquainted with the lint remover. Some black socks came out spotted with white fuzz. Does that happen to you? Hubby was sick and left some tissue in his jean pockets. As I rolled the lint remover over 12 socks back and forth, I was surprised with calm that came over me. I got these lint removers free a while back and thinking of freebies makes me happy. BTW, that's my Frugal Friday tip: be on the look-out for freebies. Every week I get something for free. This week it was toilet paper, paper towels and post-it notes. Pair a few coupons with a sale, voila! Instant frugal. It's easy to find freebies at Target, Publix, and Wal-Mart, too.

Now you know how easily amused I get. On a more serious note, flu season hit my laptop. Not too long ago, I cleaned out a virus. And this week it got two at the same time! Thankfully, all my docs and pics were saved from the last incident. I had to reboot the whole system. But what I forgot to copy was all the addresses of my bookmarked favorites! Oh well. At least I got to spend more time with family. Just this Tuesday, hubby and I stayed up til the wee hours of the night talking while he worked out and I clipped coupons. Just like college days when no sleep was routine.

We've only had one overnight trip away from the kids when we went to Monterey, CA. Since living in the Gulf Coast, I've forgotten how wonderful it is being engulfed by mountains. The crisp air and cool nights was a relief that summer. Except for when I thought we'd fall off the mountain and die driving Big Sur, it was a perfect trip! Even though I can't wait to get away there again, being able to reconnect with my husband when the kids are asleep this week has filled up my emotional tank. Having no agenda except to share and dream together is truly a Fine Thing.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Enjoy the link love. I hope you will visit other sites I've listed here. The fellowship is unsurpassed at Company Girl Coffee. Frugal Fridays is filled with inspiringly economical tips. Finer Things Friday keeps me motivated to stay positive.

  1. So enjoyed my visit today. Loved the story of your and Hubby staying up till the wee hours. How cute! Happy week-end!

  2. Isn't it fun when paper gets left in a pocket and gets washed in the laundry? NOT! All the little wet pieces of paper all over the inside of the, fun, fun! I've definitely had white lint show up on darker clothes. In fact, I have a pair of black dress pants that I've washed several times now and the white lint WON'T come off of them. I've got to get a lint remover thing and see if I can get all the lint off.

Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. ohh thanks for bringing that target blog to my attention.. I didn't know about it before.

sorry to hear about your poor sick laptop. I hope all can be recovered.

  4. Oh-the lint brush! Great idea--I didn't even think about using it for those little pieces of tissues. I usually sit there and pick all the little pieces away.

  5. I wonder how many kleenex I've washed in the last few months... too many!

  6. Sorry to hear you have a virus on your computer. I had one too over the summer. Had to pay $120.00 to get it fixed but, that was worth it because I didn't lose any of my stuff. I was so freaked out about losing my pictures. One lesson it taught me was to burn my pictures more often. I now burn them every couple of weeks. I had over 2 yrs worth of pics, that I thought I had loss. Thank God, they were saved.
Glad you were able to have some quite time with your DH. That time is definetly a "finer thing."
Also thank you for visiting my blog. I am new to all of this but, I love it.
    God Bless.

  7. My Hubby and stay up into the wee hours reading our respective books. We are a pair of geeks. I hope to drive up the CA coast one day. Hopefully with no scares of driving off the mountain. :)

  8. I haven't had a computer virus in a long time. There are some really horrid ones, I hear. Sorry you got one!

  9. MMMM, sorry about your computer, our power supply crashed a few weeks ago and it was awful!

Thanks for the frugal tip. I have tried to start couponing and I am a little on again off again. It is hard to homeschool, teach, and parent four kids and find the time to cut coupons and figure out where and how to use them. I do really save when I do, though!

Glad you and your husband got some nice time together. What a treasure!

  10. Sorry to hear about your laptop. We try to back up ours every month, and I told hubby to save our photos on something else too because once our external hardware went on a fritz and wouldn't connect.

We were in Monterey for our babymoon when Melody was born, and I think that was the last "long" trip we went on. It's so peaceful and relaxing there.

And thanks for sharing the Target link! I read your post on Friday from my phone and I never got around to commenting...the kids are giving me a few moments right now. =p Have a great rest of the Sunday! Thanks for stopping by our blog.

  11. Thanks for the cleansing prayer you posted on my blog- I am going to jot that one down and try to remember to use the next time I am in a situation like that. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness! Thanks, new friend. :)

  12. Tissues in the wash are evil! Virus-y laptops are more evil! Free stuff in niiice! Thanks for the tip!
Your trip sounds heavenly! What a blessing you and your hubby were able to get away together!
    Have a great week!

  13. I enjoyed reading your post. I am going to be on the lookout for freebies as well! I have already found two in the past few days. Now, I'm headed back to read some of your other posts!!
